A few of my figures
« on: October 07, 2021, 06:55:10 AM »
As mentioned in my introduction I'm just embarking on my first aeroplane kit for mumble, mumble years  :D

I have been busy modelling all my life however and in recent years I've been mainly modelling and painting figures so I thought I'd share a few of the WWI ones here. They are all 1/35 or so about the traditional 54mm figure size. All are basically stock and painted in acrylics with the RFC airman's base being scratchbuilt. (The little tyre chock on Werner Voss' base is made up of plastic card and taken from a photo of one by a DR1 in the Windsock DR! Datafile)

(You'll need to click on the photo to see the whole figure since Google seems to crop them down to fit the page)
Cheers
Paul

Thank you folks  ;D

Love the Werner Voss figure and quite fancy another go at that one (the one shown was painted about 5 years ago) The Sgt is one of the well known Tommy's Way brand of which I've had a couple and found them both tricky to get right.

Cheers

Very nice figures. I allways have a problem with them. Superb flesh tones in the faces.

Just beautiful Paul, and I especially like the Voss figure. How in the world do you get the stripes on his socks straight?

Cheers Manni.
Takes a bit of time to get the skin looking real, but for most northern European skintones I start with a grey/pinkish skin colour and add a tiny amount of green or blue to tone it down then add some warmth in the shadows with a reddish brown. Feel free  to ask if you have a specific issue and I'll see if I can help.

;D Like most things WD it takes practice (and a few swear words) Using acrylics makes it easier to correct any mistakes as you go along. I've found that using a decent sized brush (These are all painted using a No1) is best because it holds a good reserve of paint and doesn't dry up on the tip too quickly which is a help.  ;)

Oils or acrylic?
Great work.  :o

Bob

Thanks Bob I only use acrylics these days. I used to paint in oils and enamels many moons ago and then I decided about 5 years ago to learn to use acrylics which was a bit of a battle, but I'm getting there now   ;D

Cheers

Thank you both  ;D
As I said these were done a few years ago now, but I'm glad you like them.
