Currently on the model bench - ICM 1/35 Model T Ford LCP
« on: October 05, 2021, 09:42:39 AM »
Something a bit different on the model bench right now, a 1/35 ICM Ford Model T Ford LCP (Light Car Patrol) vehicle used by Australian forces in Palestine in 1918.

WW1 vehicles are growing in popularity and Ukrainian manufacturer ICM does an excellent line in the Model T Ford variations.

The engineering of the ICM kit is of the highest quality and this is a real gem of a kit. I'm taking a different route this time with a fairly fast build, with painting and detailing later.

The ICM kit goes together well and after two days here's where it stands. Bear in mind I'm a really slow builder so this is light speed for me!

The kit is proving to be a fun build and a joy to put together- not something we can say about every model!

When finished it will sit on a desert diorama base.

I had seen these before and they are appealing to me.  Too bad they aren't the right scale!   ;D

I don't know this smaller scale Model T but I have built some of the ICM Model T in 1:24. And these builds were great fun!
I showed them in this forum too.

Have fun!

I tell you what, I'm not a car guy but I wouldn't mind one in 1:1! I love the governmental(?) crest on the radiator.

An update on the ICM LCP project. The kit goes together very well and is nicely engineered.

Here's where we are with initial painting under way.

The model when finished will sit on a desert base with one engine cowl open and steam escaping from an overheated motor. There's an Australian soldier in preparation who will be sitting on the running board in his singlet, smoking a pipe while the car cools down.

More images soon.

Looking good! I just finished a desert diorama with this and the utility. As you say, nice little kits that go together really well. Look forward to seeing your progress. Cheers Matt

Construction update and here we have the preliminary scene, an over heated Model T with the bonnet open and the driver calmly smoking his pipe while he waits for everything to settle down.

The figure is a converted Master Box mechanic with an ICM Anzac hat.

The base is a small photo frame with scenic sand. The model is brush painted with Humbrol acrylics. Still some work to go and weathering yet to be done. This build has taken two weeks- light speed for me, but the ICM kit is very nice and finely detailed.

Beautiful work, Dave!  You can almost feel the heat.  I like the base, simple, but right.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Awesome work Dave. The figure looks great and the setting is simple but effective. Looking forward to the weathering  8)

Nice work on this, Dave.  Are you going to add the steam?

Thanks for the kind words folks, much appreciated.

Ken - I have thought about having 'steam' escaping but am not sure how to do this. I tried teasing some strands of cotton wool but it just didn't look right. Any suggestions?

cheers
