McCudden's SE-5a in 1/33rd scale papercard model by Fitter
« on: October 03, 2021, 03:17:39 PM »
So...I'm not starting this RIGHT NOW...but soon.  So here is a place holder.  I've always wanted an SE-5a to go along with my D-VII and Albatros so here it goes.  Can't wait to get her started.

Soon!

Cheers and keep your scissors sharp,
Dan

So I told my wife I was NOT going to start the SE.  Here are some shots of me not starting the SE.  Really...it's just some test fitting and I accidentally added some glue.

I really need to seek professional help.

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Awesome Dan !

So are you saying you are a glue sniffer ?

Well that's alright actually but not recommended for consumption , teeth get all stuck together , tongue gets a weird feeling  ;D

Looking forward on seeing this one come together  :)

Thanks, All...I think I'll do a bit more on the interior tonight.  We'll see!

Bob: It's by a fellow who goes by "Fitter".  His stuff is simple but looks good when done.  He has a neat line of Albatri too.  Some of his stuff has been published by WAK.

I got the main fuselage together.  I had some issues with where the rear cockpit former ended up. Not sure if that was self-induced or something else but I cobbled things together and it looks ok.  I'll do a bit more to the hide my issues later.  Looks nice with the rudder on too!

More soon,
Dan

Thanks, Rick...you being an SE-o-phile really helps!

I got the stabilizers and elevators on as well as rigged the rear all up.  I needed to add the steerable tail skid horns/rigging but that's it.  I also filled in the spot where the machine gun will go and added the cowling as well.  It will look cool with gun sites and stacks soon to follow!

I kind of like the chocolate brown look.  Less green and more brown seems to look about right to me...your mileage may vary!  ::)

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Slowly getting the forward fuse done.  Stacks, cut out/made the window...next will be gun and sites!

Looks great Dan!  I’m really enjoying this one.  I agree with you on the brownish cast.

 Best,

Bob

Thanks, Bob!

Well...at least one of JTBM's guns/sites is ready!  I also cobbled the windscreen together.  I need to make a better head rest and get the cockpit edging in order.  Then the front end will be done!

Gotta fix the ring around the front barrel (a bit crooked) but Jimmy is loaded for bear!  Wings next.
