WNW DFW CV: A Needed Feel Good Build

 So after the SE5a disaster I really felt the need for a build that would make Me Feel Good about My Hobby  So I started building the WNW DFW CV "Late". I am doing scheme A as downed by APF Ryhs-Davids and Keith Muspratt from 56 squadron RFC. Pretty close to OOB. Just some wires added to the engine and of course the control wires in the interior.

Wood Tones are the usual oils over acrylic beige.

All paints are the Tamiya colors called for in the WNW instructions.

A nice quick build log here.  Looks like you are near the critical step - rigging. I like this paint scheme.

Good to see you back Rick, and with another of your first class builds. Good to read that it is making you feel good too, especially after your recent disaster. I agree with the others - it makes me feel very good to look at it too. (And envious of such a fine model!)

I have been working on this one since the SE5a went west  I just waited until I was sure the upper wing went on with No Issues  ( Although I did Lose an Interplane strut for about 24 hours)

and the Rigging is started. Using Mono and structural rigging as usual.

Thanks Stephen. Mounting the upper wing was a Breeze with the WNW positive strut locations! I have said before that this is the One Large area that Roden needs to embrace on future kits!
So far the rigging has been pretty straight forward although drilling the holes was challenging. I broke about 12 or 13 bits while doing the wings. I thought I had a bad batch but when I tested the bits on a Roden wing it went perfectly. I think the WNW plastic was just too hard in this case

PS: Prior to construction I looked at the "Hints and Tips" section on the WNW site for this model. ( Something I don't always do) I am glad I did because there was a correction for the assembly sequence. The Gear Must Be Attached prior to mounting the wings! Opposite of the printed instructions in the kit!

All of the main wires are now in place but I ran out of thin CA so won't be tightened until tonight
