Fokker Dr.I - A. Raben (1/72, Eduard)
« on: August 01, 2021, 08:05:27 AM »
This is the effect of my participation in the first live modeling contest since the pandemic outbreak, a month ago in Koszalin. I got the Eduard kit as a prize, the Weekend Edition with Raben's option. This was a model I wished to have built long time ago. I gave it up then but now with this prize in hands I took it as suggestion to rethink and decided to accept the challenge, especially that I have not build in this tiny scale for many months now. The weekend edition actually took me 12 days to complete. It is basically oob with the exception of wire lifting handles, windscreen and those few rigging/control lines.

Love it Prze!

It’s a tiny kit in this scale, not that you’d notice from the photos. Beauty.

Very nice baby plane. Did You paint the propeller by hand?

That is one of the nicest models I've ever seen in that scale. You've done an incredible job on it, Prze. Absolutely brilliant. With those small control lines and rigging when I glanced at it scrolling through FB I thought it was 1/32 scale.
Cheers,
Gary

Awesome Triplane Przemo! Lovely finish as always. I love the subtle effects seen in the painting and very slight weathering!

Thank you everyone for your overly kind comments. It is a simple model, I have not paid much attention to details, many things are simplified or missing, so I am very much flattered.

Very nice baby plane. Did You paint the propeller by hand?
The propeller was all airbrushed. The simplified wood layers pattern was done using the self made masks form Tamiya tape - based on photos of Axial propellers.

That is one of the nicest models I've ever seen in that scale. You've done an incredible job on it, Prze. Absolutely brilliant. With those small control lines and rigging when I glanced at it scrolling through FB I thought it was 1/32 scale.
Cheers,
Gary
That is far too big a compliment, Gary. This model cannot stand the comparison to 32nd scale ones. Yet, many thanks, I am glad you like it so much :)

I really like your beautiful plane...and I like that you made this one instead of the other red one...  ;)

Greetings,
Michael

A real little beauty Prze, and as already remarked it's impression belies the small scale. I like the subtle highlighting (not often done on 1:72 subjects) which also adds to the impression of a larger scale model. Lovely work!

How good to see you back modelling in the True Scale! That could easily be mistaken for a very much larger model as Gary has commented. Beautifully done by a master modeller in this scale.
