Hansa-Brandenburg B.I, Legato-Kit in 1/72
« on: June 21, 2021, 02:05:54 AM »
Hi,

Here comes another one of my finished models, a Hansa-Brandenburg B.I.
This kit has cost me some grey hair, and most of the times it felt more like scratch-building than building a kit.

Although this section is for completed models, i decided to show you first a few pictures of the building before you will see the completed plane.

The first picture shows the glueing of the upper wings in the right angle. on the left you can see the basecoated fuselage, ready for becoming the wood grain (oil-colors).

Since the connection between the wings is rather small, i drilled holes in the spares and glued a metal pin in them. So now it is possible to lift them without damage them.

The next three pictures show my attempt to airbrush the wings, i think they came out okay, the next time i will have more experience.

And now for the completed model:

I hope you like my little plane.
All questions or comments are welcome  :)

Have a nice day...
Greetings,
Michael

Guten Tag Michael  :)

What a lovely little build and a subject we really don't see enough of . Beautiful work with the oils on doing the fuselage and those small details added . :)

Wonderful model!
Very interesting, is this a plastic kit? I have some Legato kits on my search list in 1/48 and I thought that these ones are resin kits.
And yes, the Infinity is a nice airbrush - I love mine!

My only remark: The alu panel on the front around the engine looks a bit dark, like steel, but that could be an issue only on the pictures. In that small scale the real impression is often different.

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you for the very kind comments  :D

@Frank
It is a plastic kit, but the plastic is of very poor quality.
I think you are right, the cowling came out a bit dark, especially after the wash.
Next time I will start with a brighter aluminium tone.
Greetings,
Michael

Lovely model Michael! I have all three variants of the Legato H.B. B.I kits in my stash, when I eventually build them yours will be an inspiration.

Gorgeous work on this difficult kit. And the final results are spectacular, the bare materials of WW1 aircraft always draw my attention.

Excellent work again, Michael -

Love the fact you have not gone too heavy with the pre-shading which always looks better to me.

That's a win! The 'wood' looks completely convincing. Congratulations on a job well done!

Beautiful model. Thanks for posting, I wasn’t even aware of the existance of this kit. As others have said, the wood finish is wonderful, but I think I like the engine and its plumbery even more.
