« on: December 25, 2012, 08:53:01 AM »
Just a couple of photos of what I have done so far, it is a beautiful kit and goes together so easy. A full build can be found here;  http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com/page39.html

Excellent work on a lovely pit Des. I know you have stated you will wait for Rowan's scheme's - have you decided which one you'll go with?

Hello Des:

The interior looks wonderful.  So clean and nice.  I haven't seen Rowan's sheets so will be looking forward to how you are going to mark it.  My wife went through great pains to hide this from me.  I had no idea she was getting it for me, when tonight I was wrapping one of her gifts and I saw the New Zealand post and customs certificate lying adrift on the wrapping table.  I looked at it, chuckled and carefully placed it back and played ignorant.  I will be watching this build unfold Des.

Best

Excellent! Just curiosity... That airplane didn't had an instrument panel? I have an Airfix 1/72 CL.III and I'll build an interior for it so I guess both aircraft are pretty much the same so I'll use WNW instructions as reference. Best regards.

Hopefully I'll get to open mine today...( Merry Xmas all BTW ). SWMBO allowed me to fondle the sprues in their bags before wrapping it up, whether that was kindness or evil of her I'm not sure.  ::) What I saw made me think this could be one of WNW's fiest yet. (Even after waiting so long for the D.VII something about this kitset just shines. Hoseclips etc.

Anyway a lovely start to your build Des and I'll follow you for pointers and such.

That's looking brilliant, Des.  The floor of the observer's 'pit really came out well indeed.

Cheers.

Merry Christmas Keith:

Yes, it is a great kit.  I did fondle the plastic the morning.  I had to play surprised, I think I was convincing, but; after scoping out the sprues and looking at the directions, I am definately excited about this model.  It is definately next on the build list.  Like you, I will be watching Des ply his craft.  No pressure Des!

Merry Christmas

Wow, Des!  You're getting this one together quickly!  Outstanding work on the office, as usual, mate.  I'm really looking forward to watching her come together.  Merry Christmas!
Cheers,
Bud

The engine is just about done, I have built this engine OOB with the only added extra being the ignition leads. The exhaust pipes need to be hollowed out, they are unpainted and just sitting in situ for the photo.

Beautiful job on the engine, Des.  What did you use for your ignition leads?  They lay so naturally.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks Bud.  The ignition leads are 0.13mm copper wire, once glued in position they were painted with Humbrol No.94 Brown Yellow.

Looking good so far Des:

OOB looks good to me.  Are you going to display the engine compartment open?
