Fokker D.VII (Fok) early, WnW 1/32
« on: April 22, 2021, 06:52:14 PM »
Hello,
as I really appreciate your comments in my WIP previously published, I'll try to share another one.

I built Fokker D.VII (Fok) early in Rudolf Berthold's marking. RB had 44 victories during Great War, he survived the conflict but died on March 15th 1920 during political street fighting in Hamburg.
I used WnW kit 32067 with some additions, mainly LF model propeller, Taurus engine goodies, HGW seatbelts, Gaspatch Spandaus, Barracuda intake manifold and awesome Aviattic decals for streaked fuselage and lower lozenge. Drooling bulldog and GSI C paints were used.

I started with ammo magazines, which had to be thinned down. I modified them too to install Gaspatch ammo belts.

Good start. The new belts should make a nice addition!

I forgot to mention in first note that kit is built already and this would be just the retrospective view :)

Next pieces were fuel tank and completed ammo box.

Continuing with interior basic colors. I love BD interior gray-green and unbleached linen, which was used on this one too.
Wood and leather replicated with oil paints.

All wooden surfaces received thin coat of Tamiya clear orange, some details were hand brushed and cockpit floor weathered. I also added rigging.

I appreciate your build logs. We get to see the processes without the delays waiting for the next step to be finished  8) Excellent work on the pit!

Beautiful interior painting, the seat looks real enough to sit on.

Great start and wonderful work, so far!

I will follow with interest as I built this kit in the very same markings last year.

Some very fine detailed work there. I agree with Richie that if the seat was a bit bigger, I could sit on it!

Thanks!

I added some details, put all decals and finished instruments with two-component epoxy from HPH models to simulate glass. Some weathering was also applied.
