Sorry for being late to post here folks. If anyone is interested in seeing an extensive photo montage of The Vintage Aviator Ltd collection flying at Hood Aerodrome over the last few months, I have uploaded nearly 500 photos to an album in my Smugmug account:
https://jamesfahey.smugmug.com/TVAL-Hood-Aerodrome-20-21-season/The flying sessions were mostly for the volunteer pilots to build currency on the various aircraft in the collection, and to practice the displays for Wings Over Wairarapa airshow which took place in late Feb-21. The days typically start at about 7:30 with wheeling the aircraft out of the various hangars where they are stored, then a briefing session that covers weather outlook, airfield condition and hazards, aircraft availability, other expected airfield activity, training needs and a tentative roster. Typically there is only one TVAL staff member there on the flying weekends (Dave Cretchley who is the manager in charge of TVAL) and a team of volunteer pilots and ground crew who have other weekday jobs. The photos are not intended to be calendar quality (although some may have more artistic merit than others) , more a documentary of airfield life. So for those WWI aviation enthusiasts who cannot get to Hood Aerodrome, here is maybe the next best thing. The images are all hi-res and may be downloaded for personal use.
Happy for people to share the images provided that credit is given to me as copyright holder.
Use the small download icon, not a right mouse button Save As click, or the photos will not be full size.
Cheers James
