Jacobs Reserve DR-I 470/17
« on: February 22, 2021, 12:55:15 AM »
Here's several pics of the latest to come off the bench. This is the DML/Dragon Fokker Tripe. Not as refined as the newer Eduard offering, but still builds into a respectable model. I did add some cockpit framework, removed the fuel hand pump & added a additional gauge. Tamiya & Gunze paint & wonder wire for the rigging. I tried to break the overall blackness by adding shading in dark grays and also lightened the areas where the original white backgrounds were for the crosses. Overall I'm OK with the way it came out, but I always seem to think there's a way I could do it better next time. P.S. Any suggestion on possible improvement would be welcomed. Thanks!

Lovely job on this--I thought is was 1/32 when I first saw the pics!  I was unfamiliar with Jacobs's backup Dr.I, but I really like how you have presented it.  Nicely done!

Best regards,

Bob

Very nicely done as Bob says, I really like the way you've broken up the monochrome all black finish, it's very effective. I too thought it a 1:32 Scale Model at first glance, you've done some great detail work on her.
   Congratulations, that's a beautiful model!
Cheers,
Lance

Like those before Me I also thought it was 1/32nd. Well done all around and especially the paint work!

Same here , thought it was the Meng kit .

I built this kit three times when it first came out and really enjoyed them . This is when I first came across WW 1 . Then again they were the only WW 1 subjects on the shelf .

Wonderful job on the finish very nice visual tones indeed  :)

With having a faded feel to the finish some chipping of the paint on the cowl and a bit of wear around the cockpit will even pull this together more . Still though , you did a beautiful job on this one and I look forward on your next project  :) :) :)

First class! The toning down around the crosses is a very good idea. I also thought initially that this model was in a much larger scale.

Jacob's Reserve - sounds like a whiskey.

Very nice result.  Can't tell the scale, 1/48 or 1/32.  A nice clean paint job on this.

What a gem of of model this turned out to be. Love the work on your prop and the subtle tones you've achieved on the black-on-black marking backgrounds. Great looking triplane.

Nice!  Beautiful work, and you seldom see folks modeling this a/c.
