Academy 1/72 Tempest V
« on: February 08, 2021, 03:40:55 AM »
As a little break from fitting upper wings and rigging i recently started this tempest from academy, it's a nice little kit that goes together well.

Not much interior detail but at 1/72 hardly anything will be seen in the cockpit so no point going over the top with details.

The fuselage went together well with no real dramas or major gaps.

I wanted to display it with flaps down just to add a bit of presence so i cut away the flap sections in the lower wing

and then added some styrene strips for the flap ribs.

The gap between the wings needed filling so i added some more strips to box in the gaps.

I used filler to finish the gaps and then gave it a lick of paint.

Painted using hairy sticks and humbrol enamels

Decals went on ok with no real dramas, they are a bit thick but a light buffing post varnish helped thin them down a bit.

And the finished model

That is a really nice model - I do like the flaps being lowered - gives the model a different look. Super finish too.

I hope that this foray into monoplanes is not going to become a habit - spare wings are an essential part of all real aeroplanes!

Stephen.

Very nicely done EBF, another of my very favorite air frames, and a fitting tribute to Mr. Clostermann, a true Patriot!

Cheers,

Very neat. Those Academy kits are little gems all around.

Nicely done!
I recall building this kit many years ago.  Always struck me as quite a nice kit for it's period.

Cheers,

Hugh
