Narrow chord axle wing on Fok.Dr.I
« on: January 19, 2021, 01:03:17 AM »
Presumably the D sprue in the Meng kit was originally tooled by WNW as an options sprue for a third boxing from the Triplane moulds, offering a narrow chord axle wing.
Can anybody offhand think for what serial numbers this would be relevant?
Thanks, Sandy

The narrow chord axle wing is appropriate for later DR1s' in the 5XX series. Also check the padding for the MGs. The one with the notch on the left is on later birds although there are exceptions ( I think 425/17 had this one). The two individual pads were for the F1 and perhaps the very first Jasta 11 tripes but I am not sure about the latter. The solid pads are appropriate for most of the others. IHTH,

PS: Hopefully Rays books will clear up any questions and correct any mistakes I might have made  ::)
