RAF FE.2b, Pinder & Halford, 23 Sqn (1/32, Wingnut Wings)

The final gallery of my second Fee. The early version, Baroda 15, from 23Sqn on March 29th, 1916, when it became famous for being brought down almost intact and with wounded crew by Max Immelmann.

Ungainly? Fragile? Hard to imagine it flew at all?
Well, here are a few photos showing the unbelievable versatility of this aircraft. In the period of WW1 when the progress in aviation was unequalled and many designs were becoming obsolete in the short time between production and deployment, this amazing aircraft remained in service for almost 3 years! From the early fighter of early 1916 to the very efficient night bomber in late 1918!!! I am in love, again, with this aircraft!

That’s eye wateringly lovely Prze!

Absolutely stunning. Don’t think I could face rigging the tail...

Gorgeous Prze, it's got it all and more. Seeing them both in one frame is a real treat. Your work, as so well illustrated here, is exceptional and your skills beyond match. You bring a lot to this Forum and we are privileged to have your contributions as part of our collective content.
Looking forward to more in future!
Cheers,
Lance

I can't say enough about your build, Prze - it's really stunning. I absolutely love that early scheme. Every aspect of it is worthy of praise - the rigging, turnbuckles, weathering, and you've done a superb job of eliminating that seam in the cockpit by the pilots position (the one I see when I look at my build from a few years ago!). Your model has certainly given me a burning desire to tackle another Fe2b!
Cheers,
Gary

An excellent build Przemol, to your usual standard.  Plenty of rigging to get lost in.

Thank you, everybody, for your overwhelming welcome to my model(s). I feel overly flattered...

And to those, who feel daunted by the rigging, I will keep on saying, that rigging is not difficult. I daresay that if I managed to get some skill with it, than everyone can. The method with eyelets, tubes and monofilament, which I learnt 10 years ago from Des and Bob Booth, is easy! 😉

Amazing build of this kit - truly one of the best WW1 builds I have seen. In particular your rigging is supreme - I definitely am going to try the shorter lengths of polymide tube on my next build as you have done here. Any tips for threading the line trough that stuff? That was my big challenge the last time I used it. You must have perfected the method given the amount of rigging on this subject :)

Thank you, Dave, Early Bird Fan and Petrov!

I am using the fishing line with a specified diameter (0.12 and 0.16) and the tubing selected with respect to its internal diameter, which should be a bit more than doubled line diameter. And thus I have absolutely no problems with passing the line twice through it. First pass requires no comments and for the second one I hold the tube on the line between the thumb and the point finger of the left hand and then I use the right hand holding the line in tweezers a couple of milimeters from its end - just a push through and voila.
I suppose the key is the tube with the proper internal diameter...
I hope it helps you, Petrov.
