Wingnut Wings 1/32 Albatros D.Va

Presenting my Wingnut Wings Albatros D.Va. This project practically took on a life of its own and the further along I got, the more pleased I became with the results, and the more scared I got that I'd do something really dumb and ruin it!
If any one thing fought me, it was the propeller. It was all painted, with Axial decals applied, when I noticed some minor flaws in the finish. Attempts to fix them made matters worse and when I discovered I had spare Axial decals from a previous project, I completed stripped it and started over. I decided to save it until after the rest of the model was completed so that added more urgency to get it done and done right. At that, I had to re-mask and paint the lamination effect twice!
For more information, please see my posts in the Under Construction section.

Everything about this build is praiseworthy! In Particular the wood grain is perfect...Not overdone for the scale and the Nails complete the look! I really enjoyed your build log and only wish I had another to do so I could try your techniques! Brilliant Modeling in All Aspects.

Beautiful wood panel work! That deep golden effect is how I imagine it. Nice job also on the subtle wing rib shading. Thanks for sharing the model!

The wood finish and colourful markings really make this a stunning model. Super attention to the finest details - and a very interesting and informative build thread.

As mentioned Eric, a truly outstanding build. It has everything going for it, colorful markings, excellent wood representation, and the attention to the details. "The Devil is in the Details". You nailed it. (Pun intended)

Eric,
To borrow a previous assessment here the absolutely best Albatros model I've had the pleasure of seeing. Outstanding job and congratulations on a magnificent result. Stunning and impressive doesn't nearly cover this one!
Cheers,
Lance
