Lukgraph 1/32 Sopwith Baby cowl shape
« on: November 28, 2020, 10:58:23 PM »
I’m seriously thinking of ordering this model- i’m not usually resin builder. But the Sopwith Tabloid/Baby family of aircraft are a favourite of mine.

But i have a question for those who have this model. In all the pictures of the built up model I hVe seen, the cowl to my eyes looks to squared off at the front. Is this just the angle of the images. If you look at the fleet air arm preserved aircraft, the cowl shape looks more complex being squared off at the back where it mates with the fuselage, but then forming a downward curve so that the cowl at the front is almost a horseshoe shape.  Hard to explain, but look at pictures on the web or in the datafile and you can see the difference. Now i know there were many different cowl types. But the images of the model just look weird at the front.

So the question is can the cowl be modified, do the models come with more than one cowl? Btw the rest of the model looks wonderful.

Looking at photos of the kit and photos of the full size machine, I agree.

Sure the Kit cowl could be modified with use of putty...  Can't see that it would be difficult.

Cheers,
