Guynemer's Ni.11 "Le Vieux Charles"
« on: November 17, 2020, 03:00:06 AM »
Guynemer’s all-blue N.11 Bebe “LE VIEUX CHARLES”.  Finally broke in to my stash of WW1 kits.  My first WW1build was Richthofen’s tripe using the 1/28 Revell kit and a rattle can of flat red.  That was over 50 years ago so this is my second WW1 build. The kit is Eduard’s 1/48 Nieuport using Wonder Wire rigging, .010 Polyimide turnbuckles, Uschi stretch thread for control cables and finished in Humbrol 68 Medium Blue which looked close enough to Horizon Blue for me.  Tires are Vallejo Panzer Aces 305 Light Rubber with a touch of red, and the cowling is Floquil Platinum Silver which sad to say is almost exhausted.  Kit decals and kept weathering to a minimum.  Added the mirror as seen in photo and will probably replace the kit prop with a resin copy of the Roden N.28 prop.  For me this was a fun kit to build and am anxious to try the N.17.
Very special thanks to Ian Shippee for a replacement cowling decal after I destroyed mine.

Lovely Nieuport! I really Like the Simple yet well done scheme. If decals were available in 1/32nd I would love to do this one and his Nieuport 17. Thanks for sharing your work!
