Karl Degelow D.VII Wing Tapes?
« on: November 17, 2020, 12:59:42 AM »
Working on 1/48 Eduard D.VII in markings of Karl Degelow (White Stag on black fuselage, white tail)
Eduard, WNW & Pheon Decals I believe all say this is an Albatros build D.VII and call call for light blue wing tapes.   But everything I've read states that Albatros built aircraft had pink/salmon wing tapes.  They are definitely a light color in photos.  Any explanation?  Will be at lozenge decal stage soon and want to feel comfortable with wing tape color.  TIA

A few years ago, figuring out rib tapes on numerous forums and even consulting people the likes of Dan San Abbott had me searching Amazon for a cheap straight jacket. Unfortunately, the grayscale difference between salmon pink and light blue is nil on vintage film images uploaded on the internet. I could be wrong, but my rule of thumb is if Fokker-built then lozenge tapes if dark and raw linen if light. OAW and Alb seem to be a toss up between raw linen, pink, and blue. Diner's choice- as far as I know no one can prove you wrong.
