Roden 1/72 Curtiss H-16

Not a WNW kit but still WWI.

Roden 1/72 Curtiss H-16, markings for an aircraft flying out of Lough Foyle in 1918.  Generally, I have liked the Roden kits, minus the decals.  This kit was a pretty fun build overall.  Cheers!

What an incredible model, you have done a truely superb job with this kit, the overall finish is brilliant and the rigging, well, what can I say, in 1:72 scale it is remarkable. It is hard to believe that this model is 1:72 scale, it has all the hallmarks of a much larger model, you have performed magic on this kit and produced an absolute masterpiece, well done.

Thanks for the kind words.  The encouragement is always appreciated.(one of the reasons I like this forum)  This forum is great for seeing how more advanced modelers than myself tackle challenging subjects.  If I can successfully emulate some of the techniques that others have employed on builds displayed on this forum, then I'm doing well. 

Gregory Jouette - Rigging was some variation of EZ Line (I've since lost the packaging so I don't know offhand what diameter) that I ordered

Very, very nice. Reminds me of my first venture into WW1 aicraft modelling (Christmas gift fom my wife, back in 2006 - sixth anniversary approaches).
I agree with you - even though it may seem complex, this kit is probably the best 72nd scale kit from Roden - pure pleasure to build, even out of the box. I have build two, so I know what I am talking about 
And afterwards it is a real eyecatcher, independently of the colour scheme you choose.
Congratulations on such a fine model and many thanks for sharing it.

PS. Your nickname makes me wonder if you have anything to do with my home city - Poznan.

PrzemoL -  My family surname (Dropek) was traced back to Poznan.  My ancestors left for the U.S. right around the time Otto Von Bismarck enacted his anti-Polish policies in the territories seized during the Second Partition of Poland.  The "mid" is short for "midshipman" because I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy.  I'm a LCDR now but PoznanLCDR doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.  I haven't been able to afford the trip to visit Poland but my parents went a few years back.  About the closest I've ever been to Poland was visiting Chicago on Casimir Pulaski day.(as an engineer, I've always thought that Tadeusz Kościuszko was more deserving of a holiday named after him than Pulaski)

Thanks, poznanmid. Striking story, that of your family. So many Poles had to leave this country in various periods. It is not difficult to find Polish-root descendants all over the world. If you happen to visit the country of your ancestors and the city of Poznan, let me know, we will be able to talk about Polish history and WW1 aviation modelling!
