Miles Magister in 1/144
« on: October 03, 2020, 07:47:18 PM »
Hello all.  Here's a little Miles Magister that I've been working on for a group build to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
It is made from scratch, mostly from plastic card and represents one of the "Maggie Bombers" that stood ready, just in case Mr Hitler got across the channel.

I can say only one - Wow what a great model! I can't believe that it is 1/144 scale.

Paul

Wow! My hat is doffed and knee bent in recognition of such a superb little model. I'd be proud of that in any scale, but in 1/144 it is phenomenal.
Congratulations
Sandy

If you had not put in the giant match sticks and fingers I wcould easily have believed that that was 1/48 scale not 1/144! A super model, very finely finished indeed. My greatest respect to you for making that from scratch.

Stephen.

Very nice, and astoundingly clean and detailed for such a tiny subject. Like the others I find it hard to believe it's 1:144 Scale. I wasn't aware of it's "Contingency Operational Role", that's a neat bit of history in itself. Lovely job!
Cheers,
Lance

Hey thanks everybody, I'm glad you like it!  I think the models get smaller as my glasses get thicker :)
lcarroll, If I remember correctly the use of the training aircraft as bombers was going to be called Operation Banquet.  Magisters and Tiger Moths were fitted with bomb racks and were to harass the invading forces presumably (hopefully) at night.  The Magister had a sort of bedframe hanging underneath the wings with 8x 20lb fragmentation bombs fitted.  Such tiny little things in this scale.  Or any scale really.

Ridiculous! That's what comes first to mind, but in a positive way. 😃

How on earth have you managed something so crisp in that scale and then those bombs...?!?! I'm totally blown away!

Finished at last.  :)
The blind flying hood was giving me the willies but it worked out alright after a couple of tries.  Looking forward to continuing with something a little more on topic now!
