Ardpol 1/72 Avro Manchester (Resin)
« on: August 31, 2020, 04:02:49 AM »
Hello all,

Finally finished. It’s a beautiful little resin kit, my first all resin and I learnt a lot along the way. Nearly had a disaster with the top wing and struts - my Achilles heel!

Other Ardpol kits seem to have PE - this didnt, and the instructions showed turret rings and Lewis guns, but nothing supplied in the kit - again my two other Ardpol kits do have these, so whether they were missing from my kit or just not included I don’t know. The real aircraft was unlikely to have had the guns fitted anyway as it was, in effect, a prototype. Rings made up from bent brass rod.

Great fun though. Thoroughly recommended if you can find one!

Thanks for all the help on the build log!

How the heck, already done? :o

Very clean build, the resin base is definitely not shown!
You are a very experienced model maker who is able to roll every stone out of the way.

Cheers,
Frank

Guy,
I've followed your build log with interest and I admire the result which is very clean and beautiful. Somehow you have managed to finish your Manchester while mine is still on it's way from Poland...

What will be your next Ardpol build?

Re your recommendation, to whoever is interested: PolishMade seem to have at least one more Manchester in stock. It takes time but they always arrive.

I agree with Frank: that was very quick work indeed. The finish is beautiful (as always on your models). I would never have guessed that was resin - and as Frank has written, you are an extremely good modeller to have made that in such a short time given the problems that you overcame along the way.

Stephen.

Me, I cannot believe it, either. Already completed? And so finely built. Amazing!

Thank you fellow modellers!  :D

I try for speed over quality every time!   ;)

Ehud, I’ve got the Ardpol LVG on the go and I’ve a DH9 waiting in the wings. I sometimes write for a model mag too and apparently I’ve got a Meng DR1 & an ICM Stearman in the post which I may have to do first.

Very attractive aeroplane, Guy, very well made too.
Are you going to do another with extended wings and four engines, I wonder?

An awesome looking model, Guy.  You needn't worry about building resin models - clearly you can!

Ah thanks everyone,

It is the Grandad of the Lanc I suppose - perhaps I will do a 4 engine conversion!
