Has anyone ever thought...
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:25:23 AM »
With all the WNW stuff coming out, has anyone other than me for now ever looked at the model numbers of the WNW kits and noticed some holes. Like the numbers I listed below is there no model assigned, or does this mean something will go there or is it something else?

No model assigned to: 32017, 32026, 32031 through 32036, 32039 through 32047 and 320801 maybe or 320800

I was updating my listing of them and noticed this. Cool if they plan on putting models in those numbers, would be a big boost to the modeling community let alone a money maker in my eyes.

From all reports Wingnuts have over 50 kits in various stages of development, so I'm sure all those numbers have been allocated to certain kits and will be filled as kits come off the development line and into production.

Yes I have looked at the model numbers Ollie and posted them in an earlier thread about WNW releases. Will try to find it as it is in need of updating....

We can assume the existence of UNKOWN kits due to the model numbers for the Duellists (32802) and the other announced kits.

I still think we will see every plane seen in their boxart kitted by them, so that means a Spad VII and  a Camel at least

Well, with a $1,200.00 automotive repair bill staring me in the face first thing this morning, together with Day 1 of Christmas shopping, I'm happy to wait several months for any new kit announcements.

Cheers,

Chris

My thoughts exactly, "be careful what you wish for" seems to apply. It's either a slowdown from the WNW Folks or a divorce here.........

I'm in hope that one of those purple unknowns will be a SPAD XII, Hanriot,Camel or a Strutter. We shall see one of these days.

It has been stated in print that there is a Pfalz D111 coming. It was in an earlier Windsock Worldwide.

I am planning 2 Silver post war Snipes already!
I really want a Hanriot HD1. Want to do some Italian colourful schemes.
A Dolphin looks possible.

... and a Vickers Gunbus, DH.5, Halberstadt D, etc.  I would also like to see a Fokker F.1/Dr.1, Camel and some French aircraft from WNW, but it seems they may hold to their previously stated reasons for not pursuing those types. The Roden, Special Hobby, and certain Hobbycraft models of them may be considered adequate- but the hobby did not advance to its current state-of-the-art by modelers simply accepting whatever's considered "adequate".

Don't worry about silver-period markings for the Snipe - if WNW don't do them I have thirteen profiles drawn so far..... We might also need new ailerons and fin/rudder, but I'd expect that they'll be in the kit as they were used (I think) during the war. I also have some photos of the new one at the RAF museum. On that note the RAF Museum Hanriot has apparently gone off to EnZed as part of the RE8/Snipe/Albatros D.V deal with The Vintage Aviator, so I'm VERY hopeful that we'll see that one from WNW soon and the 48th and 72nd Hanriot decals are due to be printed soon, so the donkey-work on them is done.

After the arrival of the Hannover, I had a good dig to see what other machines used the Argus AsIII and one which came up was the Roland D.IIa - a beauty and no mistake and it would fit into the missing list in both Merc D.III-powered D.II form and the IIa as two different boxings of a broadly similar set of mouldings. The D.IIa was slightly longer in the nose, had a different pattern of louvre panels around the nose and also had a minor change to the positioning of undercarriage legs to accommodate the cg change, so on the face of it, fairly simple to produce two kits.

Others I think we could/should see in the near future are the DFW C.V - produced in greater numbers than any other German WWI warplane and the Albatros C.III from the German side and a Sopwith Strutter in a number of different boxings a Bristol Scout and maybe an Armstrong Whitworth FK8? The BE2 series should also be along soon - so many different versions there!

All good fun to speculate upon. Meanwhile, it's about time I spent some time at the modelling desk!
