Many thanks, gents.

Bo, I decided to postpone the engine installation mainly to avoid problems with masking - I was afraid to damage the tiny details.

Now, the engine is done, I only need to attach the windshield and the cross-hair near the air-pump before the upper wing jups on. The end of this project is clearly within my sight.

This is a lovely build. I have a question, though. I am building the same kit - the all black version with the Edelweiss - and will soon attach the wings and start rigging. I am wondering how you will attach the wires running from the cockpit to the underside of the upper wing - will you use buckles? I could not tell from photos if the real thing has buckles or not. Either way, there is not much room to manoeuvre there.

Cheers,
John

If I might, I think you are talking about the aileron control wires. Those would not have buckles.

Sure you may, Bo!  ;)

kinnies, if you indeed mean the aileron control cables, then, truly, there are no buckles visible under the top wing. The cables enter the wing to run to pulleys and then spanwise to the ailerons. I am not going to depict this in my build, I have just drilled all the way through the wing and will pass four lines through them. After glueing and trimming flush with the upper surface, the remaining holes will be luckily masked by a PE part from the kit - a sort of inspection hatch cover.
Back to the buckles issue - there are turnbuckles on these four cables, accessible from the pilot seat, which are visible on photos in the new Alb D.V/Va WD showing the cockpit interior of a British captured Albatros. I have modelled them using Bob's tubes - just visible in the photos I have posted at the beginning of this thread.

And once again, thank you everybody for your kind comments.

Nice touch, I didn't notice these before.

Absolutely a pleasure to view Prze. Your considerable skills really shine through on this one, great attention to detail and excellent workmanship, this Thread will be my inspiration on my next Albie, however I can only hope to come even close to this little gem!
Well done.
Cheers,
Lance :)

Prezmol -

I never cease to be amazed at the level of detailing and workmanship that blokes like you can produce - fantastic detail on the engine and plane is really starting to look the part.

Thanks, Steve, Gregory and Bud!

Some progress on this Albatros - having built the radiator shutter control

prepared the water pipes for installation

built the turnbuckles at lower wing attachment points

and installed the exhaust manifold

I was finally able to add all the struts and put the top wing on place

The last step required a substantial upheaval of lower wing tips. I wonder if this was correct or I have screwed up something. Anyway, I do not fully trust glue at the strut joints so the model will remain supported at the lower wing tips until the rigging is added.
