Bristol Scout 1264
« on: July 07, 2020, 06:55:06 PM »
Here are some pictures I took at Old Warden Aerodrome. Some are taken on a mobile phone which has processed the images quite heavily but on the plus side one of the stewards used it to take pictures of the interior and the tail plane. I have tried to take pictures of the kind of details that might be of interest to modellers, I hope these are useful or interesting.

I have quite a few more, large files on my Flickr account where I have made an album of this aircraft, please feel free to download anything you need to for reference material.

Great pictures with many beautiful details - that means I have to do a lot of work to create them all one day on my Bristol model! ;D ;D
Thank you Richie!

Cheers,
Frank

My pleasure Frank, the rigging is quite complex but at least there are no RAF aerodynamic flying wires to worry about in this pre war bird.

My pleasure Lance, I will be visiting this collection every week for a couple of months. Google the Shuttleworth collection and let me know any picture wants and I will gladly oblige. Original Avro 504 anyone? They have the one used in the film Reach for the Sky, it is in airworthy condition still!

Very clean for an aeroplane that throws out castor oil at such a rate!

I think it's been recovered recently. It was absolutely plastered when I saw it in February. By far the filthiest airframe I ever set eyes on. :)

You're very welcome Monty. Am hoping to get nice detail shots of the Bristol M1c and Avro 504 on Wednesday.

Richie
If you get a chance, see what color the undersides of the Bristol M1c wings are. ( I am curious how far off I got on a 1/72 one I built years ago)

Just finished reading the book about its creation - well worth a read if you’ve not done so already

Did anyone notice the control stick is BEHIND the instrument board!??? That has to be rather awkward. Regards, Pete in RI

Just the angle of the photo.  It's actually below it.

Richie, I found a company doing wooden props with a CNC mill:
https://www.hercprops.com/

In their gallery there is a beautiful prop shown made for a Bristol Scout:

But it seems not to be the one on the Scout you shown here?

Cheers,
Frank
