I don't get over to this forum much, but your Berg looks great!

Thanks, Ermeio.  I need to try ball point pens as well.
Cheers,
Dan

Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions on embossing.  Definitely something to experiment with.

Here is the right lower wing in place:

I will touch up the leading edge.  Oh yeah, I knocked off three of the exhaust pipes while rigging the tail, so I'll need to re-attach those. ;)  Better to leave off those details until later.

I will try to match the rib embossing on the left lower wing, but maybe try something more pronounced for the upper wing.  Like I said, I've got an extra one to experiment with. ;D  In any event, the ribs tend to get lost in the busy Autumn mottle paint, but I'd like to have a bit more breakup of the wing surface in reflected light.  I'll run some tests! ::)

Cheers,

Bob

. . . and the other lower wing is on:

I like the rib embossing on this side better.  I did it with the same knitting needle, but on an old mouse pad rather than my bench mat, and it's more what I am looking for.  I'll do the same on the upper wing, which is up next after I add the machine gun barrels and hoods on the sides of the engine compartment near the front of the fuselage.  Time to start thinking about struts and landing gear as well. :D

Cheers,

Bob

Bob,
This build is really coming along nicely. It also demonstrates what a great looking aircraft the Berg D.I was.
I would say to Copper State Models that this one, in 1/32nd scale, is right up their alley.

Thanks Kevin.  I agree about the Berg, but am looking forward to the CSM H-B Star-strutter first, since there’s already a resin Berg in 1/32 from HPH Models.

Cheers,

Bob

I am thrilled with how you are making this model!

Plywood is very nice to reproduce and always creates nice effects with cardboard.

Looking at your post, I decided to design another model with the plywood fuselage, a KD 28/series.
I started to get familiar with the plane yesterday afternoon, but the drawing continued quickly.

soon, matt77

A star-strutter in paper!  That's very exciting Marco. ;D  Your preliminary work looks really neat, and we already know that you produce extraordinary natural wood finishes on these kits.  I'm so glad you are doing this one!  Outstanding!  Please keep us posted on your progress. ;)

Thanks as well for the kind comments on my Berg under construction.  I really love this paint scheme with the natural wood.  Of course, I also really like the octagonal hex lozenge version as well, so that is on my build list too. ;D  Take care.

Cheers,

Bob

Outstanding progress on your build Bob. I just can't get over how beautiful this aircraft looks. I have never been a big AH fan but that May be changing!

Top wing is done:

The ribs are embossed on a mouse pad and may be slightly overdone, but I am happy with them.  I outlined the elevators with a fine point black roller pen, otherwise they were lost in the mottle.  I couldn't resist sitting the wing on the fuselage for a preview:

The struts are up next, but I am heading out of town for five days, so that will have to await my return.

Cheers,

Bob

I think that the struts are not overdone  and  the whole is  like a plastic model, most realistic

In looking at these photos, I just have to give another tip of the hat to Marco--his artistry doing the repaint really makes all the difference in making these paper models come alive and look like plastic kits, or actually like the prototype aircraft!  Thank you Marco! ;D

Cheers,

Bob
