Nice progress. I do like the CDL and wood portions. Your hand brushing is super!

Good to see this one back again. You are making a first class job of this and I am looking forward to seeing it completed.

Always nice to meet a fellow 1/72 modeller!  And a brush painter to boot.

I really like the Airfix B.E.2c, with one built, another building and more in the stash.  I shall follow your build with interest.  The wood effect on that prop is superb.  Not sure you've converted me to oil colours yet, though.

thanks for the interest and comments, i mainly started with oils as i don't have a big stash of kit paints which means every kit i buy also meant i had to buy the associated paint, with around 6 or 7 tubes of oil paint you can make pretty much any colour you want so works out much cheaper, it also adds a little more interest to the paint job when mixing up your own colours.

I used oils for the camo on my dogfight double spitfire, they're good for getting a softer edge to the camo pattern

Oil paints have a richness and warmth acrylics can rarely match, as is evident in your work. I'm starting to use Hataka enamels as an adjunct to oils but using acrylic solely as a barrier layer to this or that project. They're good enough.

After my current dH60G I must buy a BE2, convert to an 'a' variant and follow your approach: this and the RE8 always endeared themselves due to the steampunky-ness of both.

Well done with your work. Take care.

Very nice work on the BE2c. Airfix made a great job with this kit and I gladly see more and more of them being built.

I must admit I have a soft spot for the BE series of aeroplanes.

I have a set prints (11) taken from the original Royal Aircraft Factory linen drawings for the BE.2a dated 1914 (G.A.’s & assemblies). If anyone out there’s interested, please let me know and I’ll forward some copies on.

Thank you for your very generous offer! -- might I take you up on it?

Bought two 72nd scale Airfix jobs, one for an 'A' variant and one for a later nightfighter so would be useful.. They best sum up the ww1 'look' of any aircraft of the period for me.

Kind regards,

Fantastic build!

I built the Meikraft and did a Formaplane as a sorta-kinda BE12 back in the day.  The new Airfix version looks way more fun!  I'll definitely give one a go as soon as I clear out the bin of despair (poor man's version of the shelf of doom).

thanks for all the comments on this build, i'm enjoying the process even if it is taking far too long.

Had a good day with the 2c yesterday, got the wings and rear end attached. I've painted the wings in a slightly lighter shade just for a bit of difference, the control horns i've added on the rear are probably a tad too tall but they're about the smallest i can hold for shaping etc. I'll probably make a start on the rigging tonight, should be easy now i have my new prescription glasses  :D

Your BE is really looking great! I have been tempted to do a few two seaters in 1/72nd and this one May be the first. Very inspirational!
