  Dirk,
Outstanding Albatros DVa my friend. I do remember seeing this beauty on Hyperscale several years ago. She still look as great now as she did then. Love the painted wing camouflage too.Still have a hard time believing the NASM got such an important detail wrong when restoring their DVa many years ago. Maybe the NASM will correct that little oops during the next restoration.
Highest Regards,

Great work Dirk!  Truly beautiful.  How did you do the wood fuselage?

Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for your kind words. For the fuselage, i sprayed a base coat of XF59. I used different shades by adding some white. Every panel was masked seperately and got its own mix of this paint. After sealing the coat with future, different oil paints with a major amount of burnt sienna was brushed to the panels. I used the panels as a demarcation line for the wooden structure. The structure will be created by the way the brush, first dipped into a small amount of white spirit, was moved over the oil paint.

The method can be see here. The difference is the masking of the panels and their individual wood grain.

Yes, yes, a very nice Albatros. This yellow-green tail adds to the general positive impression. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! Your woodwork looks convincingly real.

Hello Dirk:

I really like this.  The scheme is simple but yet striking and your model is very striking indeed.  Your wood grain and tone is very nice and realistic.

Best
