Airfix 1/72 BE2c
« on: May 17, 2020, 11:04:51 PM »
So here's my first entry to this forum and the first bi plane i've built. I really enjoyed the build even if rigging a 1/72 is a test of my not so steady hand. I look forward to following your builds and learning from you guys, having a quick look through the builds in here the standard is extremely high so much to inspire me.

That looks really good Early Bird Fan. Nicely detailed and rigged too and quite spectacular, doubly so given it's 1/72 scale whose size would defeat my fumbly fingers.

Really impressive and a great start to your Forum journey.

cheers

Great job. The BE2c is a difficult 1st build.  Impressive paint scheme.  It is nice to see someone build in 1/72 scale.  Rip

Welcome to the forum EBF - and what a way to introduce yourself! That is a model which is as good asmany presented here - and as Des wrote about my first presentations - models of all standards are welcome on this forum and yours really is among the best. For a first biplane and first attempt to rig one, I think that you have made an extremely impressive job - the more so as you have double wires and it is in God's Own Scale.

More please in future.

Stephen.

B**g*r the rigging - your chequer boarding is excellent - how did you do it?

thanks, it's mainly decals. It has a white base coat and then the black chequer on top is about 9 different decals which need lining up. Took a bit of fiddling but it came out ok

I have a 73 inch BE.2c hanging in my shop. Her name is Hermione and she needs refurbishing. Your scheme would be a pain to do, but would hide a multitude of sins.

I am so impressed with the double flying wires in 1/72.  I will have to keep an eye out for one of these kits.

Hi!
Many compliments from another 1/72nd modeller that had two Airfix BE2c in its stash to build.
It seems that kit parts fits well from your excellent build, you choose a difficult subjest as first!
Great build!

Nice build, EBF.  The checkerboard and the rigging are highlights of your model.

And, welcome to the forum!

That is superb, I had to double check that it was 1/72. Love that chequer board scheme, what a brilliant little model!

Again, a great job on this model. I have not seen this kit on this side of the pond. Where might one order it?

Can you point me in the direction of some references to this scheme. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I'm spending more time than I should trying to figure a way to put those checkers on an already built flying model.

There are some pretty loud Pup schemes out there and then there were the Spad Showbirds of the 94th Aero Sqdn, bit this mix of PC-10 and checkerboard strikes a balance I really like.
