Corona quarantine stalled build: Special Hobby 1/32 Nieuport XVI

Time for my first build here and as Nieuports seems to be popular I took this from the shelf of doom.



Started it a year ago but it stalled when my interest shifted to the CSM Nieuport XVII.

The only photo I could find from last year was from the construction of the seat.



Very vague instruktions and unclear position of the parts. Without the CSM kit besides it would be hard to understand where the parts should go.
Today I finnished the cockpit so this is where I am now. Getting the struts right seems to be interesting.



So lets see if this or my quarantine will be finnished first.

Thanks for all nice comments.
Fuselage is now glued and I have begun splashing some paint on the lower surfaces.
I have used Tamiya Deck Tan and it is a bit to greyish to my liking.

The painting continues. I am using the recommended Tamiya colours from the WNW Salmson kit and masking is done with Panzer Putty.



All four colours done and I will now try to paint the roundels.



I used the CSM instruktions as a background as the table was to bright for the camera.

Got the roundels done. I used a cirkelcutter to make the masks in Tamaya tape.



For a first try I am somewhat pleased with the result. I forgot to mark the masks, so they may have been mixed resulting in rings of varius thickness. But with some touchups it will do.

Good work there, Bjarne! I approve of the use of masks, of course! Looks like good results too! If you would like to try my masks in the future, just let me know.

Fredrik, I would like to take a closer look at your masks.

Assembling continues, I have painted the undercarriage and glued the cabane struts in place.
A test fit of the wings gave me hope that it eventually will come together.



Next up is touch ups and clearcoat, so it will not be much to show for a while.
