Wingnut Wings 1/32 Post-War DH.9a "Ninak"
« on: April 23, 2020, 02:41:41 PM »
Presenting my WNW Post-War "Ninak".   Started last September and completed yesterday, it features Pheon and kit decals, Pheon wire wheels, and HGW seat belts.  Paints were mixed using Gunze Mr Color for the dark blue and Hataka lacquers for the light blue.  Rigging is a mix of EZ-Line (undercarriage), Inifini Model Rigging Thread (control lines), and Maxima Chameleon 2-lb test monofilament fishing line (wings).

If interested, more details can be seen in my build post:  https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=10490.0

Cheers,
Eric

Beautiful! I realy love those ugly lines of Ninak (and DH.9, too). Your model does justice to the great kit. There are so many fine details, one cannot stop watching and finding more and more. And it gave me the final incentive to make this lovely boxing my next project, when Pup is finished. Thanks for sharing.

A long haul Eric but worth every minute of your efforts! The quality of your finish is remarkable, and the detailing "top drawer". I really like it, you've done a wonderful job!
Cheers,
Lance

That is super! The details that you have included and the wire wheels take this model to a different level. That is a model which I would be very happy to have in my display cabinet!

The spoked wheels look nice and all, but it's the desert dust all over them that is so incredibly realistic. You really hit it out of the park on this one Eric.

As I said on another forum, great result, Eric.  The weathering looks perfect to me.

I really like colorful birds, and this is for sure a very colorful biplane!
You put a lot of effort in this model, and together with a great WNW kit this pays back. Great job, Eric!

Cheers,
Frank

Now that's just cool...I just saw a real DH-4 in early March and those suckers are LARGE. Your model really gives that same feel.

Neat-oh!

Gorgeous! In addition to what's been said already, I love the contrast between the wood interiour and the light/dark outside and the "moved" stripe of the camera hatch as well.
How did you do the arming vanes on the Cooper bombs?

Thank you!  I debated over having the camera hatch opened or closed, as I figured on the ground it would normally be closed, but I decided having it open looked cooler.  Not to mention it lets you see the camera lens.  :)

The arming vanes come with the HGW RFC Bomb detail set #132020.  I also used the fin braces from that set on the larger bombs but didn't replace the fins themselves though they are provided.  I didn't feel the difference was enough for the work involved.

Cheers,
Eric
