Metric Wire
« on: November 25, 2012, 04:34:42 PM »
Am finding it difficult to source wire as fine as .1 mm.  I live in the US, where nothing metric is reasonably available, but the finest we've come up with is .3 mm.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  Thanx  Bob

The electrical leads for computers, printers, phones etc all contain very small wires, the cables on power adaptors for charging phones, head phones, speaker wires are also a good source. The $2 shops carry a good renage of IT cables for any type of application, it's just a matter of stripping these cables and measuring the internal wires, the smallest I have found so far is 0.07mm with the average size being around 0.1mm - 0.15mm.

Earbuds/headphone now are notoriously cheap when it comes to quality. My teenage son would go through a pair every few months, and he would give me the old pair with the broken wires to strip. I've got a whole box full of the things to provide me with wire when I need it.
