It's been a while since I built anything that was relevant enough to post here but on a whim I recently bought and built the newish Eduard Fokker D.VII kit. As soon as I opened the box I knew it would end up on the bench pretty quickly and it turned out to be a joy to put together. I bought the ProfiPACK edition and was actually able to use all of the PE bits, including the MG cooling jackets which I thought for sure I would mangle.
I also used the kit supplied lozenge decals and they were also a joy to work with. Except for the colors- they looked too bright and the wrong shades to me. I attempted to solve that by overspraying multiple coats of a thin mixture of Tamiya Smoke and Med. Blue. The undersurfaces required only 1 or 2 oversprays but the topsides required a few more to tone things down sufficiently. The colors may still be off and I found out after the fact that the rib tapes on an OAW-built machine should probably have been light blue but I'm happy enough with the results.
I did immediately buy another kit and 2 sheets of Aviattic lozenge decals for Fokker D.VIIs so that I can do one of the other schemes included with the kit, and maybe build a couple of the old Revell and Roden D.VIIs that I have in the stash.
Thanks for looking!
