Airbrush question
« on: February 27, 2020, 11:12:44 AM »
I have been using the same airbrush now for well over ten years Passache Eagle Talon and I love it ! But I was told lately that it is no good because the chrome finish is wearing off on the inside of the paint cup . I have no issue with this , doesn't affect any of my finishes and such . I only clean it with lacquer thinner . Never with windex or any other glass cleaner .

Do I need a new airbrush or what ?

I would say ..... no.

I have the sam trouble with both of mine, I use a Badger 100G and a Harder & Steenbeck Evolution. Both have the chrome going thin or even gone completely (Badger) on the inside.

The main piont of an airbrush is the fit between the needle and the nozzle and that should not change when tghe chrome finish wears thin.
It is just that, a nice shiny finish

Well Terri, it seems to me you have answered your own question. It works great and you love the airbrush. No reason to fix what isn't broken. Unless you are looking for an excuse to buy a new one  ::) In that case get rid of that Old Relic  8)

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Keep on enjoying your airbrush for many more years.

If the chrome is not flaking off and going through the airbrush, I would say you don't need to worry.
BTW, who told you it was no good?  An airbrush salesman?

An airbrush salesman?

Is that what door-to-door brush salesmen do these days?

All 3 of mine(2 of which are H and S) are showing various amounts of brass in the paint bowls, hasn't affected their performance in the least.Had to replace a few nozzles and needles over the years but that's it.
Cheers,
Dave.

I must admit that I should be much more careful with my Harder & Steenbeck than I really am and I also cannot see much chrome any more inside the paint bowl. It never caused any problems.

Was not expecting this many replies to the question . Thanks guys for confirming on what I had a hunch was false info . I have no plans on getting a new airbrush my works just fine .

No sale's man at my door , just my neighbor asking if he could have his sifi scale modelling circle of friends use my house for their meeting . My neighbor is alright we share tips and the odd paint jar from time to time and I do meet with his wife for coffee once a month . They are re-do upgrades and it's a real mess at the moment . So being friendly I said use my house it's on;y for an hour or so . One of the guys that was with him I DIDN"T like at all ! He didn't like the fact that I had good quailty kits in the stash and when he saw my airbrush on the workbench he told that it wasn't any good anymore because of worn chrome finish and offered me 2 bucks to take it off my hands . I laughed at him , but he wouldn't take the hint and harped about for it awhile . This individual will NEVER set foot in my house again , neighbors yes .

Thanks again guys for your feedback  :)

Ahh now, we have a word for people like that. It is 'Arsehole'

With a capital 'A', there's not a lot you can do about them unfortunately
