Williams Brothers 1:32 F9C-2 Sparrow Hawk
« on: February 05, 2020, 08:20:31 AM »
I finished this model for our local club Group Build Contest this past weekend. It's a fairly old Kit which was released in 1972 and I wouldn't recommend it to a novice or inexperienced model builder, I fought with it from the beginning! I really enjoy the "Yellow Wings" period of early aviation and now have two of the period aircraft in my collection. Despite it's many "warts" this one won the members votes for contest winner, I was shocked.
The model has a scratch built cockpit, was finished in mixed Tamiya acrylics, and the decals are from "Yellow Wings". The main reference for the Build was the American National Aviation and Space Museum website, they have the last survivor on display. It is modeled very clean as were the originals, I'd like to say the white object on the port lower wing is a polishing cloth left behind by the servicing crew however it's actually a bit of styrofoam from it's transport container that I failed to notice while taking the photos. :-[ :-[ :-[
Hope you like her, for my part I'm just excited to get back to my Halberstadt!

Cheers,
Lance

I once owned this kit and so have an Idea on just how much work was required to make such a Magnificent Model! Brilliant work Lance!

Thank you all for the kind comments! Richard, there's no Akron next for this modeller ........ someone recently termed the 1:32 HP 0400  a "Divorce Special", a model of the Mothership would have that pale by comparison!  ;)

Wow Lance, what a beauty you have created.  Did you use Yellow Wing decals or Kit decals.  I remember building this years ago and the kit decals fought a bitter battle.

Juan,
The decals are from the related "Yellow Wings" sheet. Thanks for your comment!
