PZL P.11c (1/72, Arma Hobby) - 131 Esk Poznan, VIII 1939
« on: December 30, 2019, 09:13:47 AM »
This is the model that waited far too long. First I should say that my generation dreamed for many tens of years to be given a decent model of this iconic fighter from Polish September 1939, the first to fight against the Goering's Luftwaffe. Finally, in the recent months that long dreamt dream was fulfilled by Arma Hobby (and on the top of it IBG is to release another kit of this a/c in the coming months).
I had this model since it was released and it waited for a short break between WW1 subjects. The break has finally come and so here it is, my Christmas 2019 project - the PZL P.11c from 131 Fighter Squadron based in my home city Poznan, as it looked just before the nightmare of WW2 broke out. In September the squadron badges, numbers and the checkboards on the upper side of the wings were overpainted, but I wanted to have a model featuring the famous raven badge of Poznan units.
The model can be get in two disguises, this is the Expert version which, besides the plastic sprues common with the Junior version, includes a PE fret with quite a number of tiny bits as hand grips, some fuselage fittings, aiming devices and a handful of details for the cockpit interior, as well as masks easing the airbrushing of the windscreen and wheels. I highly recommend this kit - very detailed, yet very easy to build. The keen eyed may even notice the manufacturer decals for tyres - quite an achievement in 72nd scale, isn't it?

Amazingly detailed for 1/72...could easily be 1/32. Neat!
Beautiful build and the added national and even local pride make it even more special.

Robin :)
Found my mojo and clipped it's wings, so it won't fly away.

It looks exceptionally good for 1/72 scale.
What are the two 'bumps' on the bottom surface of the wing near the strut mounting points?

Thank you, Robin and Ken.
The bumps on the undersurfaces  of the wings are the fairings for the guns which were usually removed in service to improve the speed and climb, then only two fuselage guns firing between the engine cylinders were left.

That is a truly beautiful model. The details really are very good indeed especially as they are in the true scale.
