Polikarpov I-16, type 24 1941 (ICM 1:32)
« on: November 23, 2019, 09:49:25 AM »
From time to time I need a break from WW1 modelling. Meanwhile I picked up some nice WW2 airplane kits and even some WW2 armour (Well, I think my wife wouldn’t agree with the word „some“). Somehow I like soviet WW2 hardware.
It’s the ICM kit build OOB except for an Eduard PE-Zoom set and some masks for spraying the markings. Maybe there should be black lines around the stars, I don’t know, in fact I have no idea about Russian WW2 aviation. I also don’t know if this very machine was ever flown by a female pilot. I don’t care too much, I just liked the resin figure when I saw it on ebay...

Best regards

Andreas

Outstanding Andreas, another fantastic vignette.  Your figures are pieces of art (the plane is not bad either, LOL)   :D

I love your vignettes, and this one makes no exception. Great plane, figure and environment.

Beautiful vignette Andreas!  Both the aircraft and the pilot are exceptionally well-finished.  Can you post some close-up photos of the figure?  What is the brand and name of the figure?

Thanks, and very well-done.

Beautiful work as always Andreas! The figure is fantastic as is the aircraft. As usual your ground work and scene really pull it all together!

So much detail in such a small space! I have written before that you are an artist as well as an exceptional modeller - this proves my point in spades.

nice. build.

i've been getting interested in Soviet stuff lately too. just bought a book on the i-16 series.

MikroMir are coming out with a 1/72 Kalinin K-7. THAT sure got my attention (you know, the 'flying battleship meme" plane)

Sorry for replying so late.
Jeff, that project sounds great, please post some pictures!
Bob, sorry for my late answer, I try to find out which brand it was — I think something Japanese. Close up pics will follow!
Best regards

Bob, the brand is called „Lerchik“, look here: https://toylandhobbymodelingmagazine.press/category/lerchik-resin/
Found it on eBay but they obviously offer more female Soviet soldiers.
Pics will follow!

Pretty sure this plane was flown by Soviet aces lieutenant Boris Safonov and/or lieutenant Surjenko in the Murmansk area in the fall of 1941.
