Sopwith Camel E1422 Fairlop
« on: October 09, 2019, 12:18:14 AM »
I'm wondering if any members can help. My 10 year old son is starting a WWI project at school and as part of it will be visiting the grave of 2 Lt Harry Jassby, who was killed in 1918 in Sopwith Camel E1422 at a Training Station near Essex practising a V victory formation ahead of the armistice. Interestingly, although he was Jewish, he was buried in the nearest cemetery, which was a local churchyard. He has a Jewish gravestone and local synagogues hold a service at his graveside each year.

I would like to build his aircraft with my son but can't find any pictures or information about what this Camel would have looked like. He was based at 54 TDS Fairlop which seems to be a training squadron near Hainult Farm. I wonder if anyone has ever seen any pictures of aircraft from there so I could get some idea of what sort of scheme to try.

Fingers crossed someone can help and I promise to post pictures of our progress!
