Eduard kit with Gaspatch MG's & Aviattic streaked camo decals. Fuselage bands and lower wing crosses were masked off and painted on.

Really Terrific DR1! The streaking decals look awesome as does the weathering! Awesome build!

This is the beast streaked Dr.I I have ever seen. Those decals are the most realistic way to depict streaking, IMHO.
Great job all around!

Beautiful.
Very nice weathering and the Aviattic streaking decals look superb.
No issues with masking on decals?

That is a terrific model. The mud and wear is super - not overdone at all but very convincing. Stunner!

Robin, I'm not sure exactly where you're referring to. If it's the crosses on the upper wing, I panted the background color first and then carefully trimmed the streaked decals up to the painted edge. I also did it the same on the fuselage sides. Decal from the cowl to the bands around fuselage and paint the rest of the way back.

Ah! I was wondering about the use of masking tape on the streaking decals to paint "things" on them....like the fuselage band.

You didn't.  :)

Very well done!
Did you paint the lower color, or is it decal as well?
And, how did you do the prop, it is very convincing.

The underside blue is paint. I used Mr. Color C20 Lt. Blue for the base coat, then masked the ribs and lightly sprayed Mr. Color C117 & C118 which are both slightly different shades of Lt. Blue. The removed the masking and sprayed a final coat lightly to blend the different shades together. The prop was done by painting Mr Color C44 Tan then cutting thin strips of Tamiya masking tape. After applying them, I sprayed Mr. Color C43 Wood Brown overall. The finished with several light coats on Tamiya Clear Yellow. I like using Mr. Color paint because it's lacquer based and when applied lightly as I do with an airbrush it dries rather quickly and adheres well. I rarely, if ever have trouble with lifting paint when masking. The down side is that it has a strong smell so you should have a spray booth to extract the fumes outside. I can spray and don't even smell the paint. Hope this helps.  :)
