Here is the Le Rhone large scale engine that I built quickly as a test piece for a variety of metal paints. The cylinders and push rods are Humbrol metalcote polished steel, handbrushed on. The front plate is rattle can polished aluminium metalcote. Manifolds are Mr Metal copper and some of the components at the rear are Mr Metal Brass. The shaft and inner components are Mr Metal chrome silver.
My conclusions are that I must have a dodgy can of polished aluminium, the look here is of cast metal. The Mr Metal works very well on the curved and tubular components, not so well on the flatter areas, but this was all hand brushed. This paint will undoubtedly work better air brushed.
I did not go to town with tidying up the kit, such as the join between the cylinder halves, the seams around the spark plugs etc.
One more out of the stash!
