I love the final results Drew! With all of the ribs on the SPAD it is easy to end up with a wing that looks stripey. You have avoided that look!

Thanks, Rick!
Had a slight setback as the tape pulled away some of the base coat after I shaded the fuselage.   >:(
In the process addressing that and painting the front of the fuselage.

Here's the damage from the tape. For some reason the Vallejo paint is not sticking so well to the fuselage; didn't have this problem on the wings using the same tape.

And here I have started touching up and put the first coats of USAF tan slightly lightened on the forward fuselage. Rear still needs the final overcoat of base color after I finish touching up. Also upper surfaces of wings have final coats on them.

Repairs look great so far Drew , can't even tell you had a mishap . Will look even better when this part is over and the stage begins .

Good progress and nice recovery on the paint mishap.
Paint not sticking to plastic is why I am not using acrylic paints.

Thanks, Terri, Ken, and Rick! I few more touchups and the overcoat and the repair should be fairly well hidden.  Or I'll just photograph it from the other side.  ::)

Very nice build and sad to hear from your mishap with Vallejo paints. I generally don#t use them for airbrush painting at all, just for brushpainting.

Thanks, Andreas.  Small update: front fuselage color is finished and exhaust pipe holes drilled.  I also put the roundels on the wings.  I know the white paint the Germans used was pretty opaque, but I am going to leave a faint impression of them under the overpainted German markings.

Yes, should look interesting with the roundels partially visible.

Thanks!  After a few thinned coats of white. Lower wings are very close; upper will need a few more coats, but I'm liking the effect.
Off tomorrow for a couple weeks vacation so putting this aside for a bit.
