Ron Kootje - Gotha conversion set
« on: May 10, 2019, 09:40:08 PM »
Hi all,
Some of you may remember the Wingnut Wings conversion set (Gotha G.IV to G.V variant), created by Ron Kootje through Richard and 'Aviattic'.
Ron has informed me he is prepared to create more conversion sets but only if there is sufficient interest, as he'll need to make a few new molds.

Gotha G.V parts List

2 Radiators with Photo etch grills.
Propeller hubs.
Engine beams for kit engine.
Struts for the engine cowlings plus brackets.
2 wing section's for the engine.
Upper wing - corrected centre section.
Main wheels 4x.
Small anti rollover landing gear wheels 4x.
Engine Cowlings (vac-formed and pre-cut).
Engine cover panels.
Fuselage details such as control cable guidance hatches.
Cockpit conversion.
Main landing gear parts.

Previously the cost of a conversion set was 100 Euros (£86, $112 US, $151 CAN).
At that time when you placed an order you would get an invoice with shipping by 'Paypal' and Ron required a couple days to prepare the vac-formed engine cowlings and cut so you didn't have to.
Also those who ordered from outside Europe needed to supply a contact phone number.

I don't know if Ron would do this himself or go through 'Aviattic'.

I'm certainly interested so if you are to, please post your interest in this thread.
In that way Ron can gauge whether it's worth while making more conversion sets,

Mike

What is the minimum number to initiate a run?
And how many in the run once initiated?
Just out of  personal curiosity.

In total we have 4 interested now... not worth it to make new molds for 4 people.

Ron, I think there would be more interest when Wingnut re-issues their Gotha G.IV.  Might be worth revisiting then.....

I have one, but I'd buy another. Is there a link to a photo of a completed conversion that I can use for a reference? Kinda puzzled by the landing gear.
