Special Hobby Morane Saulnier N 1/32
« on: April 23, 2019, 05:25:00 AM »
Messieurs,
after having thought on many ways to get a proper and correct angled fix of the wings to the fuselage of Special Hobby's
Morane Saulnier N in 1/32 I resigned.
there are two problems with the wing and fuselage connection:
1. the two pins on the wings do not fit into the holes on the fuselage
2. the angle oft the fuselage- side of the wings is incorrect so that the wing is not in 90° but bowes down a little bit.
it is very hard to correct this but necessary since the pins alone do not give enough hold - you ned some mm² for the glue.

May this be the effect of an already worn out mould ?
the thrill is gone ... definitely

kind regards,
Gunther

I don’t have the kit before my eyes now, but I‘d try to replace as many as pins as possible with brassrod. If the cockpit isn’t in the way, I‘d let the brassrod go through all the fuselage. Another option is to use the kingpost on the upper side of the fuselage and try structural rigging.
I cross my fingers for a working solution

Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes , this will be the only useful solution; I was not so sure  about this since I don't have a straight
round brassrod at home.
You have to run it through her since the pin holes won't give enough surface for
stability; the same situation occurs with the Bristol M C 1.

The pin fit is not the main problem but the incorrect inner angle of the wing; the wing
does not sit tite-fit on the fuselage and almost gives no glueing surface.
To correct the angle by sanding visually won't work out.
Use of Evergreen styrene to underpin the gap is only a mediocre solution

That’s my usual source for brassrod:

I can imagine the issue now. Don’t give up, it’s a beautiful plane and here on the forum are many who built it beautifully. Maybe you give the search engine a try?
