Hello folks, I just finished my first Encore kit which is the re-boxing of the Roden model of the prototype Fokker Triplane. Thanks to Lance Carroll who talked me through how to post pics again :-)

It's just beautiful, Gary! It looks superb in every detail to me, neat and subtle colours with some great figure painting too!

Great streaking effect Gary. The prop is a real eye catcher as well, carved or painted? Glad you were able to jump right into the photo posting again, it's always a pleasure to see your Builds.
Cheers,
Lance

Gary, Your F1 is Simply Superb as I said elsewhere! You have captured the streaked effect perfectly Love the Voss Figure! I don't know if you have any "In Progress" photos, but I would love to see you contribute to the "Fokker Streaking, show us your method" thread in the Hints and Tips section!

Thanks to all for your kind comments!

Lance - the propeller was stolen from the spares provided in the WnW's fighter kits, along with the Axial markings. I just airbrushed it buff, then masked it with thin strips of Tamiya tape, and then sprayed on a slightly darker brown. After a gloss coat I gave it a streaking of oil colours for a woodgrain look, then more gloss.

Rick - the streaking was done by first airbrushing on Olive green stripes of varying width over the pale blue surface, then a coat of gloss varnish. I used Winsor & Newton series 1 Olive Green oil paint, and after thinning it with mineral spirits, streaked it over the surface with a stubby old brush and tried to emulate the pattern in photos. It took a very long time for that paint to dry, and subsequent tests have shown that even thinning with extra solvent still takes over a week or more to dry. Aviattic's decals are probably a much more preferred alternative!!

I'm currently putting an article together for Brett Green's Military Illustrated Modeller magazine, but would have no idea when it would come out.

Cheers,
Gary

Super streaking and the propellor looks as though it has been carved from wood! The figure really adds a special touch too.
