Airfix 1/48 Walrus
« on: January 09, 2019, 04:01:16 AM »
Not WWI but still a biplane!  Completed on New Year's Day, 2019, here's my Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Walrus.

Extras include a Vector Resin engine, Eduard PE Interior set, and Eduard PE bomb racks.  Rigging  is Inifini Models elastic line attached to eyelets made from .004" Nichrome wire and secured with polyimide tubing and CA glue.  Camo paints were MRP (Mister Paint).  MRP paints are fantastic and are made to be airbrushed straight from the bottle.  I've heard them described as inks rather than paints due to their extremely fine pigments but regardless, they're a pure joy to use.

Beautiful Build all around! Airfix has certainly raised their bar as to kit quality!

Lovely Eric!

Yep, good old Airfix!

The MRP paints are like a luxurious indulgence aren’t they?

Very nice. I have always liked Walrus. But the new Airfix kits arrived too late for me. Yet, I am watching yours with a great pleasure. Fine job.

Very nice Eric! Excellent work. I'm part way through the Airfix 48th Blenheim and the Walrus is on my 'to do' list too.

Your model shows what can be achieved with the Airfix kit as a starter and some aftermarket gems too.

Thanks for showing us.

Thank you Dave, and all you others, for those very kind comments!

I hope you post pics of your Blenheim.  I've got one coming.

Cheers,
Eric

Very well done! I like the little things like the open window and that odd-shaped propeller. :)
