I completely agree about the pleasure/joy of reading through an old magazine.  I don't have the full collection of Scale Models anymore, but huge stacks, here and there.  For a while I was taking a handful to the local IPMS meeting each month, but they didn't even want some of them.  Likewise Airfix and Campaigns and Fine Scale Modeler, and all the rest.

Lately I have been re-reading the September, 1982 issue.  Before that was an issue from 1990. The only scary part is that some of the "facts" we knew back then have turned out to be not exactly so.  Sigh.

When I go west, my kids or my wife are going to have to hire a couple of trucks to dispose of my treasures but there should be a smile on my face.

Thanks Paul and Rick! I think i'll always have a place in my heart for these old scraps of paper.

My wife doesn't get why I hold on to this old stuff, but like you Rick, it's meaningful and worth more to me than anyone else is likely to care for. I do like your analogy Rick - he who dies with the most stuff wins, right...? Right...?!

In terms of 'piles of stuff', I have at least made an attempt to organise my piles into neat folders.

Helps this dottery old mind keep track of things, at least!

Cheers,

Another 'collection' completed - with the arrival of the Zero today, I finally completed my collection of the Airfix "Special Edition" 1/72 kits, released in the "Vintage Aircraft" and "World War Two Aircraft of the Aces" boxings. These hold a special place as I remember building many of these boxings as a kid / teenager in the 1990s :)

I am definitely better these days at collecting than I am at building, haha!
