Nieuport 11
« on: October 29, 2024, 09:58:02 AM »
Copper States Kit I?d due out in December and i expect that it will be very nice but what about the A Model 1/32 Nieuport 11? I?ve tried to find a review of the kit and failed but is it any good or is it better to buy the Copper State kit?
Many thanks
Simon

Far better to wait for the Copper State kit IMO, this will be significantly ahead of the AModel kit in terms of quality and buildability.

Having said that, the AModel kit is definitely buildable and not a bad kit, although the Special Hobby one has a nice resin engine. See here for a discussion of both: https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=7423.0 , also https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=10792.0

There are also some builds on here, just scroll through this thread and you will see examples of the AModel and Special Hobby kits: https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=812.15

Hi Simon, sorry to be somewhat late chiming in on this thread. I started the Amodel N.16 kit last year (it's the same as the N.11), before transfering my energies into the Aviattic Eindecker project. I thought for the price it would be a good introduction to 1:32 WWI modeling, but there was so much extra work involved in bringing it up to acceptable (to me) standards that I can't recommend it. I'll finish it one of these days, but for now it's a shelf queen...

My (somewhat overly-long) thread is here if you want to take a look:

Many thanks for your reply, late or otherwise!
I?ve hedged my bets and bought an A models 11 from Hannants because I?ll get 10% off the price as I?m collecting from Scale Model World this weekend but I had forgotten that it was virtually the same aeroplane as the 16 of which I have a Special Hobby boxing! To put matters straight I have also ordered one each of the new CSM kit from Hannants with 10% off RRP and free postage!! And no doubt CSM will also release the parts as a 16 in due course!! But in my opinion CSM learnt a great deal from Wingnut in every area and their kits really are lovely and at the kind of price Wingnut might have been. We are very lucky!!
