I just completed this model yesterday, and while there are aspects of it I could have done better on, I think it may be of interest because of a technique I tried for the "Fokker streaking."
I first painted the surfaces a fairly light tan, and then masked and sprayed angled stripe of various widths and spacing. I then clear coated this with Future. The streaking was then done using Winsor & Newton 'Olive Green' artist's oils with a stiff rake fan brush. I found that after an initial application, it worked well to wait about a half an hour and rake it again. This produced better defined streaks.
The painted on diagonal stripes had two benefits: (1) they provided variation in color and apparent density for the streaking without needing to achieve that by the streaking process itself, and (2) they provide a consistent guide for the direction of streaking.
In retrospect, I think it would have been better to use greenish rather than brownish colors for the diagonal stripes. Also, as you may notice, the oils bled a bit under the masking for the leading edge; I had left the masking in place until the oils dried, and should have removed it early on to clean up the bleed through. Oh well, next time.
And by the way, this new-tool Revell kit is quite nice!
