Eduard Nieuport 17, 1/48. Raoul Lufbery.....
« on: October 05, 2025, 08:40:02 AM »
I really enjoyed this build. No problems other than my own goofs. Great little kit by Eduard.
Done for the Aces Mounts Group Build. All Out-of-Box.

Build log here:   https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=15132.0

The bottom...

I had some clear coat issues, all my own fault, all almost completely resolved. A little puddling of my grunge wash on the trailing edge of the upper but we were way beyond stripping and refinishing. The two coats of the proper Vallejo and future made things right just fine. My first attempt at bungee cord suspension, I will do better. And whoever said the landing gear was too long and should be shortened is daft. I think they're too short now.

A fun exercise in different silver finishes.

I have another Eduard 17. This was such fun I may have to do another. Perhaps Bishop's B1566. I would love to tear a page from Harry Woodman's book and do Nungesser's Nieuport 25, N5324.

Thanks for the encouragement and for following along.

That turned out really well, the varnish issues aren't evident at all. She really looks the part, the bungee cords look good IMO and the overall finish is very effective. Quick OOB builds can be fun and still result in a very good looking model!

Thanks Everyone,
Was great fun. I'm pretty sure it will be Bishop's Ni17 next, the Eduard kit again.
Off on holiday for a month, be well all.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick
