Another scratch built model made of paper and super glue.
This model was a fairly quick build, quite enjoyable.
Mainly referred to the Flight magazine and Windsock Datafile No. 16: Morane-Saulnier Type L written by J.M.Bruce.

Another beautiful scratchbuild, amazing craftsmanship all round!

Indeed, beautiful and eye appealing.
I looked more closely at the pictures of the wing being made.
Do you use two pieces of paper - one for the upper and one for the bottom of the wing with a built up inner structure?
It looks that way but the pictures of the finished model show a very thin delicate wing. The internal structure must be quite thin itself. Does it provide enough stiffness that it provides the curvature to the wing or is that a result of careful alignment after the CA is applied but before it hardens?
cheers, Graham

Wow, all credit to you.
The structure of the Morane L makes this a challenge to build, in any medium.
I had a simple 1:72 resin kit, and quickly decided to replace the struts with steel wire...
Love your work on the wing.

Once again an inspiring build.

Yes you're right, that's two pieces of paper, I adjusted the thickness of paper to control the strenth and the translucency of the "fabric cover".
You should shape the paper parts before apply the super glue.
Although I used super glue to bond the upper cover with the super-glue-hardened lower cover and wing ribs to raise the translucency of the whole wing part, in this case super glue is used mostly as a "stiffener", not as an "adhesive".
EDITTED ERRATA
It's not built up inner structure. The wing ribs are bonded with the lower wing cover.

I found that too, so I used brass wire and staples as struts instead of super-glue-hardened paper.
1/90 is a small scale, in this scale the weight of wing part is low enough, so brass wire and super glue is hard enough to support the whole wing.

Wow thank you all Alan and NigelR!

Beautiful!
Is that prop glue-hardened paper?
And can you post a picture of the alcohol based UHU you mentioned?

Sorry I forgot to reply you Joachim! UHU in your picture is the UHU glue I mentioned, I found that UHU is more efficient than white glue. UHU glue has a low water content, so it hardly causes paper to absorb moisture and warp when applied. Now I mainly use UHU for card models now.
Yes the propeller is made of glue-hardened paper card. When it was hardened I used a knife to carve it into the shape of propeller, then sand it. It's really hard and tough to carve, but it's also very strong once finished.

That is beautiful. The prop and translucent parts just floor me. Excellent and thanks for sharing!

Your models are inspiring - the translucence of the wings is just so realistic. The size is small (I know because I scratch build mainly in 1/72 scale), so the details are very fine and extremely well done.
Stephen.
