Revell Germany B-17F built OOB. MRP and Tamiya Paints. Thanks to Warren for suggesting the Dryer sheet method to vary the paint layers. I am loving the Technique! Other weathering was done with Oils and pastels.

Nice job, excellent weathering. Very effective and convincing!

Rick - that is really nice. I remember as a youngster watching the series Twelve O-clock High and always admired the look of a B-17. You've done an outstanding job on this one. Cheers!

Thanks Gary! I watched that show as a young kid also! I built the original 1/72nd Memphis Belle kit from Revell about the same time. I think it probably lacked a bit of finesse ::)

Nice "Heavy" Rick.
What is the "Dryer Sheet" technique?

Thanks! The Dryer Sheet technique is basically a "Poor" mans way of using a mask for layering of colors. Not as difficult in large scales but in 1/72nd it is challenging. There are commercial products available but WD pointed out that used Dryer sheets work great! Also one can use a Scotch Brite Pad cut/pulled apart but this is easier. One basically airbrushes a lighter or complimentary color, or darker , and it creates a nice random pattern! I think Warren showed His results in His Nieuport thread!

Beautifully done Rick. It really appears to be much larger in scale than 1/72.

Thanks for Looking in and the Comment Tim!

Missed this one rick. The tonal variations are excellent - I admire anyone who can achieve that sort of thing, regardless of scale.
Given the age of the kit you have produced a brilliant model. Very well done.
Stephen.

Thanks Stephen. Greatly appreciate the comment! I did work hard to get the tonal variance in the scheme. As for the Age of the kit, this is the Revell (Germany) 1/72nd scale kit from about 2012 I think. It is not the Old Revell mold we built in our youth ;D

The Academy Me 262 OOB build. A really nice kit IMHO! Paints were MRP Acrylic Lacquers, My New Favorite paints!

Honestly Rick, how do you achieve the finishes on your models? The mottle is seriously good, but the overall finish is something to die for!

Thanks Stephen, very kind comments! As for the finish I have begun to use MRP Acrylic Lacquers, and when using Tamiya Acrylics I thin them with Mr. Leveling Thinner. MLT for short. Iwata Eclipse Airbrush is used and really sprays nicely. The MRP is probably the smoothest drying paint I have ever used! I am also using some More modern layering techniques along with some Old Verlinden weathering Idea. I am still learning every time I paint a new model!
