Thanks for dropping in, Dan, Ed, and Zac. Still making a bit of progress, but slowly as "real life" things take time away from what's important! :-\ Boggie, I really hope you're theory is wrong........ :o ::)
Cheers,
Lance

Lance this is really shaping up. Your work is wonderful to follow!

Your seat is very beautiful.
Martin

Oh, you Frenchman, so fresh!! Last time a guy said that to me I slapped him.

I've often wondered how the early pilots alleviated the effects of castor oil fumes whilst airborne.
Another early aviation mystery solved.  ;D

Oh Boggie.....you beat me to it and have me on the deck LMAO!!!

Seat looks like a real, it surprised me place the fuel filler.
Sitting on the fuel tank required great courage.

Thanks, Michael and Adam. I wish I'd just put the cushion over that filler hole and left it there!!
I've completed the cockpit with the exception of the guns and a set of floor cross braces. It's a very busy and surprisingly cramped little office space without the guns, once those are added you can easily see the lack of space between the gun "butts" and the Pilot's head!

The interior of the "turtle deck" component, a combination of wood and metal, is finished as well.

Additions included all the flight control cables the extra work on the instrument panel detailed earlier, the HGW seat belts, the cables from the triggers on the joy stick to the guns done with lead wire, and frame cross bracing.

The final assembly of the cockpit component was a little tricky when fitting the joystick or control column; the stabilator bell cranks on either sides were difficult to fit in the tiny gap between the floor boards and frames, it took a bit of pressure to get them to pop into the holes provided even though they were enlarged a bit before final assembly.

As is so often the case a great deal of the detail is completely covered over once the fuselage is "closed up"; as we all say, "at least I know it's there!

The component fits perfectly inside the fuselage, shown here dry fitted, however the fuel caps appear too recessed, too late now however future Builders might consider not inserting them all the way to the bottom of their mounting holes. These are permanently in place with CA, so they'll stay as they are.

Now it's time to clean up the work bench a bit and start on the guns, in this case the GasPatch Set # 32062 Vickers British Hyland Type B with Standard and Reversed Ammo Feed. At the same time I'll be starting work on the Bentley Engine using the Kit supplied version.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for your positive remarks, Guys, they really do put an "upside" on the whole Build! A pretty smooth ride so far, hopefully there isn't a catch further on!
Cheers,
Lance

You have done a brilliant job with the cockpit Lance, very cramped and busy but it looks very impressive, it will look even better with the machine guns fitted. I also had a few issues when fitting all the cockpit components but eventually it all fell together nicely, Looking forward to seeing your next updates.

Beautiful cockpit work Lance! I checked my old build and the fuel fillers fit just like yours so a kit issue?

Lance, Looked at Martins photos. I am attaching a link. Looks to me as though the fuel filler caps are correct as they are?

Rick,
Actually, now that I've done a little homework on this I take it all back. The numerous clear photos of TVAL's 8102 in the Plans Booklet and similar clear views of original Snipes in the Data File all show them as completely recessed per WNW's representation. :-[ When in doubt, check the facts as we used to say on the Flight Line!
Thanks for taking a look at Her and the supportive comment.
Cheers,
Lance

Many Thanks for the nice comments, Des. It is a busy little "Office" as I remarked.
